1. Take the seat off - two bolts
2. Take the tank off - couple more diconnects - pay attention to the lines to the carb so you know where they are going when you reinstall
3. Take the chrome cover off - writing from memory but I think there is a nut on the top at the back - changed mine last July so memory is a bit hazy and my manuals are in storage with my Savage.
4. Clean out the cavity around the sparkplug as throughly as you can
5. Pull the plug - and as soon as convenient - install the new plug - that deep well is an invitation to grunge falling into the motor.
6. Reverse procdures putting it back together.

I note you intend to replace the plug"s" . Interesting concept as there is only one. But if you by two you will have a spare for the next time.
